Word of Mouth: Cannes 2015

Gorgeous sun, incredible beaches, a leisurely jet-set vibe only the French Riviera can bring and12 days of top-notch films it could only be the Cannes Film Festival. This year the event, which kicked off on Wednesday and continues till the 24th when the big Palme dOr winner is announced, features an impressive roster of films from around the world. Theres Taiwans Nie Yinniang, about a female assassin from 9th Century China; Italys Il Racconto dei Racconti, a fairytale fantasy with ogres, sorcerers, princes and princesses, and Frances Dheepan, which spotlights a trio who, posing as a family, escape from a war-torn Sri Lanka to Paris. Meanwhile, the A-Listers to keep an eye on during this festival season include Cate Blanchett (starring in Carol, based on the Patricia Highsmiths novel The Price of Salt), Naomi Watts (in The Sea of Trees, directed by Gus Van Sant) and Rachel Weisz (in The Lobster, alongside Colin Farrell and Léa Seydoux).
